Condolences
Patrizia Eisert Evanssays
I send condolences on the loss of a wonderful soul, McCarrell L. Ayers, to his friends and kin, many wonderful memories of his life and his voice and career. To have lived 86 years in the love of God and the many musical performances and many students–may they all remember him fondly.
Dr Don Fortenberrysays
McCarrell added brightness to our years together at Millsaps College. We shared many evenings at musical event, sang together in Musica Sacra, and had good laughs at the humor that was inherent in our life experiences. I greatly value those times together and the memories that have grown out of them.
Maggie Williamssays
McCarrell Ayers sang at my wedding. I will always remember that sweet sound. My best to his family
Chris S Bruntsays
McCarrell was a wonderful performer, teacher, and true friend. His devotion to his life partner, Don Kilmer, was a great inspiration to me. I sang with him in Musica Sacra (Jackson), as well. We miss him and Donald both.

McCarrell was a wonderful teacher and friend. We will miss him and Donald. Donald was my organ professor and I thought I could not sing. McCarrell changed that and taught me to sing. I will always be grateful for that. Patrick Doherty
Diane Foustsays
Mr. Ayers was my first voice teacher at Millsaps College. He gave me a broader perspective of what I could do, and he gave me lots of interesting repertoire to sing. He encouraged me at every step and even gave me free lessons after I graduated. I think of him every time I pull out a piece of music he gave me with his name on it.
Vanessa L Millersays
I will never forget the fact that even after retirement, Mr. Ayers stayed with me as my vocal instructor so I could finish my Senior Recital at Millsaps. He pushed me and for that I will be forever grateful I miss him and Donald. You both made my final year at Millsaps bearable.
